I am very disappointed with the "Claude Code in Action" course. As a beginner, I found it nearly impossible to follow because the instructor skips over the essential "how-to" of the setup process. Specifically, there are no instructions on how to load the provided projects into an IDE or interface. Furthermore, the tools used on-screen don't match the standard Claude Code versions. Without basic context or a clear layout of prerequisites, this course fails to deliver on its promises.

To be honest, not great at explaining. It does give you a high level grasp on what Claude Code does and does not do well, and what limitations has, but it is a mix of a beggininer and a more advance developer sort of thing. Not detailed enough to be a stand alone, not high level enough to be concise and to the point.

This course is an absolute disaster because of the AI grading. The content might be fine, but the platform is unusable when a bot handles the evaluation. It doesn't understand nuance, it punishes you for not using exact "keyword" matches, and the feedback it provides is completely useless. I’ve spent more time fighting the algorithm and guessing what specific formatting the machine wants than actually learning the material. It is a lazy, broken way to run a course and a total waste of time. Don't bother.

High Friction and Unwarranted Academic Rigor for a Technical Utility Tool While the premise of the course is relevant, the execution creates significant friction for professional users looking for a streamlined technical evaluation. Below are the primary areas where this course falls short: 1. Overly Complex Environment Setup The code samples rely heavily on specific Node.js and npm configurations. A significant amount of time was lost on environment setup rather than learning the tool itself. The course would benefit from simpler, more portable project samples that allow students to focus on the core concepts of Claude Code rather than troubleshooting local dependencies. 2. Technical Inaccuracies and Friction The instructional videos do not consistently align with the actual behavior of the tool, requiring external research to progress. Specifically, the GitHub app setup and hook implementations are prone to failure. For instance, I discovered that hooks execute relative to the launch directory rather than the project root, causing them to fail silently unless absolute paths are used. Even after resolving pathing issues, the model's behavior regarding these hooks remained inconsistent. 3. Unnecessary Narrative & Prose Requirements The course requires an excessive amount of written prose to pass exams. For a tool-specific certification in a rapidly evolving market, this level of academic "rigor" feels unwarranted. In my opinion multiple-choice quizzes are sufficient for knowledge checks; requiring users to write detailed essays is a distraction for those of us here to evaluate use-case fit and technical features. 4. "Aggressive Marketing Bias: "Wrap up"/'Explaining SDK Adoption to a Team' The final roleplay exercise, which requires the student to essentially evangelize the product, is misplaced. As a paying user, my goal is to master the technical implementation and evaluate utility, not to act as a spokesperson. Forcing a marketing-style roleplay feels self-serving and undermines the educational spirit of the platform. Final Verdict: If you are a professional looking for a quick, technical deep-dive into Claude Code’s capabilities, be prepared for a high degree of administrative overhead and "busy work" that detracts from the actual learning experience.

Course is focusing on older versions. Doesn't talk on the latest version which is more user friendly through the app.

Not deep enough and many key feature missing

In a course called "Claude Code in Action" you'd think they would make sure that "Claude" is correctly spelled in the transcript material. It's misspelled "CLOD" (my favorite), "Cloud Code" (no, were not talking about cloud computing) about 70% of the time. If I were only reading the transcripts I would wonder what the heck are they teaching. Also, the AI voice is so fast and doesn't pause between examples, it's easy to lose one's place. I had to slow it to .75X. Dependency problems: package.json had Next.js pinned at ^9.3.3 (clearly a typo from course prep) — should have been 15+. By the time I took the course, Next.js 16 had already released, making this worse. Upgrading Next.js triggered a cascade: npm install failed due to zod version conflicts, requiring --legacy-peer-deps to work around The reinstall dropped 935 packages including @ai-sdk/react, which had to be added back manually @ai-sdk/react v3 changed its API since the course was recorded, causing a runtime crash (input.trim() on undefined) that required a code fix Commands that didn't work as described: The # shortcut in the CLI (for adding notes to CLAUDE.md) no longer prompts to save to a file — it just treats it as a conversational message Screenshot paste with Ctrl+V requires the screenshot to be in clipboard, which on Mac needs Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4, not the standard shortcut the course showed. Root cause: The course was recorded against a specific environment that wasn't pinned or documented, and the ecosystem moved on.

Scam course

I already use Claude Code on a daily basis, having learned it through self-study, but this course opened up many new things for me that I hadn't read about or seen before. The courses are very well structured and explained understandably. I definitely recommend it to you even if you already use it, trust me, you will learn new and valuable things too

I am very disappointed with this course overall. I did not find it helpful for learning Claude code. The first module just is a basic "What is Claude code" and then second module to skips all the way ahead to a fully baked out project where the instructor just shuffles through a bunch of nonsensical code changes and adjustments he made. It was impossible to even follow along. Those are the only 2 sections in the entire course! No foundational learnings of how to set up a project. No step-by-step build walkthroughs. No overview of basic commands or when to use them. No basic testing or validation procedures. No troubleshooting. The AI exams are also terrible. They ask open ended questions and look for answers that you can't possibly have learned in the course material. If you're looking for a basic ABC-123 of Claude, this is not it.
