Start by getting acquainted in English through the people and places that matter most to you. In the first module, you will learn vocabulary for family names, countries, and languages, practice the past tense verbs was and were, and use adjectives to describe family members and places while exploring the story of the Statue of Liberty. In the second module, you will meet “unknown heroes” and connect ideas with and, but, and so as you build longer sentences. You will also practice asking and answering who, what, and where questions and expand your vocabulary for describing people. Across the course, you will work with readings and listenings, vocabulary practice, grammar guides and quizzes, and short writing and speaking showcases. By the end, you will be able to introduce people, describe them clearly, and share simple past events and stories.
