I completed all four courses and passed all the assignments. It has been 2 weeks since then but my specialization certificate is not generated yet.

My knowledge is assessed by people like me, for whom English is not their native language. For some, the intonation is too fast, for some it is slow. If the first three courses were not a bad level, then this one is simply disgusting. It's too bad that you can't talk to a reviewer.

As an experienced English speaker, I was looking for something new to learn in my leisure time, and this course was definitely worth my time. I was able to revisit concepts I had studied at university while discovering new aspects of pronunciation that I had previously taken for granted because they seemed so natural. Overall, I am very satisfied with the course content and the instructors. My main concern, however, relates to the quality of some peer-assessed assignments. While some learners were clearly serious and committed, many submissions I reviewed did not follow the instructions. In several cases, learners uploaded audio recordings from previous models instead of completing the assigned task. Some submitted shadowing exercises instead of the requested self-reflection videos, while others appeared to use AI to circumvent the requirements. Many submissions showed little evidence that the instructions had been read carefully. This experience left me wondering whether some learners were more interested in obtaining the certificate than in genuinely developing their pronunciation skills. I also noticed considerable variation in English proficiency among participants, with some appearing to struggle with basic pronunciation. I understand that online courses attract learners with different backgrounds and levels of experience. Nevertheless, I believe peer assessment is an important part of the learning process and should be taken seriously. To maintain the course’s quality and credibility, I would encourage the University of California, Irvine, to consider implementing stronger quality-control measures to ensure that submitted assignments meet the requirements. Despite these concerns, I found the course valuable and would recommend it to anyone genuinely interested in improving their understanding of American English pronunciation.

You may not believe that you may have the flaws in your spoken language. Actually we never bother but when you learn a second language you come across your flaws (astonishing you carried them for so many years). Here is the right time to correct it still.
